Heuvelrug Gardens โ€“ Growing Awareness in the Streets of Utrecht

During my third-year internship at the Natuur en Milieufederatie Utrecht (NMU), I worked together with fellow intern Jitte Toebast on a campaign to raise awareness about Heuvelrugtuinenโ€”biodiverse, climate-friendly gardens that contribute to a healthier local environment. The goal was to make this initiative more visible to people living in the Utrecht region.

Our main task was to create a street-style promotional video. We interviewed people in Utrecht and asked if they knew what a Heuvelrug Garden was. Their spontaneous and often surprising answers helped us highlight the lack of awarenessโ€”and the potential for impact. The video, along with several social media posts we designed, was distributed through NMUโ€™s online channels to engage a broader audience.

In addition to filming and editing the street interviews, I set myself a personal challenge: to learn animation. I designed and produced a short animated intro/outro that could be used in Heuvelrugtuinen videosโ€”adding a professional and recognizable touch to the campaign content.
